Seemingly in the United States, Jews have coped with oppression far better than black people have. I have my own ideas on why this is, but I'm interested in different views.

2021.10.23 17:08 lostouthere98 When I left the amish, I thought most americans were secular or non believers.
I grew up in a religious community, with minimal education to a certain point and I left to be free from living a religious life. When I left the Amish I was somewhat scared but also euphoric knowing now I get to do cooler things now, so much to explore, many people who look different and speak other languages. In my family though, my father use to tell me that the most english folk aren't believers and they are not to be trusted etc.
Life for me growing up was full of curiosity, I once saw boys playing video games and I didn't understand why there was cartoons that you can move, why the tv does what it does since I didn't and couldn't have them. I used horses and horse buggies, but the other people used this thing that was way faster than my horse, the call it a car and I want to touch it.
When I reached 13, I started to have my doubts about god, his inability to do anything. During this time I also became suicidal because I felt stuck, my family tried to blame it on me doubting god and not praying with conviction.
I survived and I left my family without looking back, and you know, at first I thought secular people were that, secular.....no. I started telling people about how I'm no longer a believer and no longer care about that horse crap with confidence and I it did not get me the reactions I expected, people got violent, called me ''sad''.
One thing I learned quick; my father was wrong about most non amish being none believers, but he was right about not trusting them.
thats when I learned what an actual atheist is and that they are hated by most people, it shocked me really since most non amish christians would have lots of answering to do to god '

2021.10.23 17:08 ZY2526 Two quick questions - cow level and portals in boss rooms
Hi guys, two questions.
1) To open the secret cow level, does it matter how many scrolls of town portal are in your tome? Back in the day, I always thought you wanted it full for higher monster density. This isn't the case though, is it?
2) My friends are so adamant about this one, but I'm 99.9% it's not true. They think you don't want to place town portals in boss rooms (Durance 3, Duriels Lair, Catacombs 4, etc) because it affects drop rates. Does it?

2021.10.23 17:08 Glassjaw1990 Oh how accurate!!
Life as a Bouncer ...
If the doorman asks you for ID don't roll your eyes, tut, sigh, laugh or say "really?", especially when you've just turned 19 and fresh out of your GCSEs.
The smoking area is outside, it has been since 2007, stop asking.
If you're in a queue to get in, don't ask "how long will it be?" or comment on people leaving or commenting on it 'being a joke'. All this does is slow down your chances of getting in.
Your dad isn't a solicitor.
Don't give us life advice when your Mum still does your washing.
When we say "can you take your drink inside" we mean INSIDE. Not "can I just put it...?" "Can I just leave it with you?". INSIDE, back through the doors you've just come through.
Don't give us a friend's ID and try and convince us it's you. You're not 35.
Calling your Mum doesn't constitute confirmation of age.
Don't ask for a friend's or fake ID back, oddly enough you won't get it back. Welcome to the reality of consequences.
Don't look down your nose at us like we are shit, when you're the one wearing Fila moon boots and doing a degree in sport fashion with a bag of Ketamine in your pocket.
If you're being searched, trust me it's not because we want to touch you, you probably look like you're off your tits. And no, you can't have your drugs back.
If you're asked to leave... Leave, it's easier on everyone.
If you're knocked back at the door take it on the chin and go elsewhere. Don't stand there for 20 minutes trying to convince us to let you in whilst saying the venue is "shit anyway" and we are dickheads.
If your friend is refused at the door don't say "it's ok, they're with me"... 'Cause basically, who the fuck are you?
Don't ask us where your friends are, we don't know who they are... And we don't care.
Don't ask when a venue gets busy, we aren't psychic.
Don't walk in to the venue and moan it's dead when you've literally just watched us open the door.
Don't say "safe" or "blessed", you sound like a fanny. Talk like an adult.
You're wrong, we don't have to give you a reason not to let you in.
You don't know your rights.
If you try and punch us, you will get hit back. Again, welcome to the world of adult consequences.
Your dad still isn't a solicitor.
Don't walk in to a venue moaning about it, no one has a gun to your head. Feel free to go back home to your Pot Noodle.
Generally, just be polite. We are stood on a door, in a busy venue, for not much more than minimum wage now. We get ourselves involved in the conflict of strangers when we really don't need to. We stop you from getting hurt by others and we are the first person you want when you're in trouble. We are physically and verbally abused most nights and have to put up with people who treat us like shit. You wouldn't last a week doing our job, regardless of what you think. Just be nice... It isn't hard.
Oh, and your Filas still make you look special... And your dad still isn't a solicitor.

2021.10.23 17:08 caprisuncoma laptop for gaming and uni?
Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase. Please do not use USD unless purchasing in the US: UK, <£2000
How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life? I would love a 2in1 but it's completely fine if not! a decent battery life would be good
How important is weight and thinness to you? Not that important, but I would be using it for uni and would have to carry it around, so maybe not incredibly heavy
Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. If possible, I'd like to run triple A games at low settings (some games listed below)
If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want? Valorant, Minecraft, League, Destiny2, GTA V, Phasmophobia; low settings is perfectly fine with me, as long as it can run kindof smoothly
I was thinking about the lenovo legion 5, but it seems a bit heavy and (correct me if im wrong,) gaming laptops tend to be quite loud? i don't particularly want to be cooking up a storm with the fans if im in a lecture (i mean, i dont know if they are still loud when they're not running games..?).
I was also considering the HP spectre x360, as a 2in1 would be pretty nice to have (although unnecessary since i could just use a wacom tablet) but i'm not entirely sure it would be able to run the games i want to play?
(also i cant get a pc unfortunately, otherwise i wouldve 100% bought a pc instead)
Any recommendations or advice would be great, thank you! :)

2021.10.23 17:08 schoggifroeschli Wire Muzzle Modification?
I am debating the pros and cons of modifying Rudi's wire Muzzle.
I want to cut out one of the middle horizontal pieces, so as to facilitate handing him treats. (Not all the way across - just one edge from one of the "squares", so that I can get two fingers & a treat through the gap..)
It is currently possible to hand him stick type treats, but for training treats, I have to literally grab the muzzle and shove the treat in "just so". Taking one of those bars out, would allow me to stick my fingers in.
Cons: * possible sharp edges - file the down * Rust - suppose no real way to prevent, though coating with acrylic may delay. * structural integrity? - don't honestly know how it will be affected * will he still count as "muzzled"? (for public transit etc purposes.) * he might be able to grab at clothing or fingers - though he isn't an "active bite risk" when he gets excited, he can be somewhat "grabby" - not in a mean way, but at his size people get scared and clothing can suffer.
Pro: * ability to continue training "more easily" with muzzle on. * building more positive associations with the muzzle.
Has anyone here done this? Any opinions on how it will impact the overall usability of the muzzle?
Any better ideas?
